Almost 30

Well, I have thought about blogging so many times over the last few years. I have used other pages to share, including Cozi (which I LOVE) and Facebook of course. Today I decided that I wanted to do it. I wanted to tell my story, and share my life. I know that things are not always easy, but that some how they always turn around. In the next few weeks I will have my 30th birthday and my 10th Anniversary. for the last 10 years of my life i have been looking forward to 2012.  I had always planned to do a big vow renewal at this point. We got married young and we didn't have the wedding of our dreams, not to mention we didn't know much of anyone since we had just moved from Georgia to Iowa. I knew that it was not the size of the wedding, how many gifts we got or even how pretty everything was, but I did know that it was suppose to feel like a celebration, and we just didn't feel like that was achieved. We told each other that in 10 years we would renew our vows, invite all of our friends and have a huge celebration. Well, life hasn't played out like I had dreamed it would and that is just not a possible option right now. We now have 4 children, have gone through a deployment, beat a few rough patches and I am currently back in school full time while Chris attempts to start a new career outside of military. So, maybe our 15th Anniversary will be the date!

All that aside, I still have my 30th birthday coming up in just a few days. I have been searching pinterest and blogs for weeks trying to think of ways to spend it. It was not long ago that I was out with my favorite person, Alicia, and came across a picture frame. The frame was a simple black wood frame with white writing along the bottom that said something along the lines of it being the life in the moments that counts. A lightbuld went off. I knew that I wanted to do something EPIC for my 30th. I wanted it to be worthy of that frame. I wanted it to make a difference, and be remembered. I also knew that people don't throw parties for you anymore after you have children; which I think should not be the case, but that is another blog. So, I had to plan something, but what?

It has all slowly been coming together. While at Family Game Night at church I played a game that had been given several names, but I choose to stick with the title of "the picture game." I thought, 'man, this is a blast. It would be so fun to play again with my friends. I should do it for my birthday.' As I began to talk about it and I brought up that I had a list of things I wanted to do for it, one of the ladies suggested that I make it 30 things because it is my 30th bday. I was game! I list of 30 things. I like it.

I then read another blog about a lady that did one act of kindness for every year she had been alive for her birthday, and she asked that her friends also did an act of kindness on her bday and shared it with her as a gift! I fell in LOVE with that idea. I am so excited to share that with my girls, and spend the day doing acts of kindness.

Then I decided exactly what I was going to do to mark this time. I was going to make this list of 30 things and give myself 30 days to do them. I do not yet have the list done, but tonight I started to lay it all out. Somewhere in the 30 days I have several activities to fill in. I cant wait to share the journey with you all. I hope that you all join me in a few days as I join the birthday project making the world a better place one birthday at a time. ^_^
